Unfade ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our movie quiz application. Please read it carefully to understand your rights and how your data is managed.

Unfade is developed and operated by Niccolò Luciani, an independent developer based in Italy. For any privacy-related question, you can reach out using the contact details in Section 9.

All personal and game-related data is saved exclusively on your local device using standard native storage (SharedPreferences). The App stores the following information locally:
Game progress, including total rounds completed, total questions played, and correctly guessed movies.
Aggregated statistics, such as correct guesses by director, release year, genre, difficulty, and your perfect round streaks.
A historical log of your played questions and rounds, including TMDB movie IDs, frame URLs, outcomes, and timestamps.
Your legal consent timestamps and interface language preferences (Italian or English).
We do not collect, store, transmit, or have access to any of this data. There is no backend server, user account system, or cloud synchronization associated with the App.

The App requires an active internet connection to function properly, as movie frames, soundtrack audio previews, and metadata are loaded dynamically via external URLs during gameplay. By loading these resources, your device interacts directly with the following third-party APIs and servers:
TMDB (The Movie Database): The App makes direct HTTP requests to the TMDB API to retrieve localized movie titles, full metadata (such as plot, cast, director, and genres), similar movies to act as quiz distractors, streaming providers, and poster images. To perform these requests, the App only transmits the numerical TMDB movie ID and your requested language code.
Frame Sources: The movie frames randomly displayed during the quiz are dynamically loaded from external sources, specifically FilmGrab (https://film-grab.com/) and Flim (https://app.flim.ai/). When a frame is displayed, your device connects directly to their servers to retrieve the image.
Audio Soundtrack Previews (Apple / iTunes): For select movies offering audio clues, the App streams 30-second soundtrack preview snippets directly from Apple’s servers (iTunes / Apple Music Preview API). When an audio clue is played, your device connects directly to Apple's network.
When your device requests data, images, or audio streams from TMDB, FilmGrab, Flim, or Apple, standard technical connection data (such as your IP address) is inherently exposed to their servers to fulfill the request. These third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy policies (for instance, TMDB's policy is available at (https://www.themoviedb.org/privacy-policy) and Apple's policy at (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/).

The App functions primarily as an interactive quiz interface and does not claim any ownership, copyright, or intellectual property rights over the cinematic frames, posters, audio previews, or metadata displayed within the application.
Third-Party Frame Hosting and Credits: The movie frames displayed during gameplay are not hosted on our servers. They are dynamically loaded and streamed directly from third-party curators, specifically FilmGrab (https://film-grab.com/) and Flim (https://app.flim.ai/). We gratefully acknowledge these platforms as the sources of the visual content.
TMDB Attribution: This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
JustWatch Attribution: Streaming availability information is provided by JustWatch. This product uses the TMDB API's watch-provider data, which is sourced from JustWatch, but is not endorsed or certified by JustWatch.
Apple Attribution: Audio preview clips are streamed via Apple Music / iTunes public preview services. This product is not endorsed, sponsored, or certified by Apple Inc.
Copyright Disclaimer: All images, titles, characters, sound recordings, musical compositions, and related indicia are utilized solely for entertainment, educational, and trivia purposes under the doctrine of fair use. All copyrights, trademarks, and intellectual property rights belong exclusively to their respective studios, composers, record labels, production companies, and legal rightsholders.
No Affiliation: The App is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any film studio, record label, FilmGrab, Flim, TMDB, JustWatch, or Apple Inc.

Because all your game progress and preferences are stored exclusively on your device, you maintain full control over your data. You can permanently delete all data associated with the App at any time by clearing the App's storage via your device's Android system settings, or by simply uninstalling the App.

Under applicable privacy laws (such as the GDPR), you have rights regarding your personal data. However, because Unfade does not collect, store, or control any of your data on our systems, rights such as Access, Rectification, Erasure, and Data Portability must be exercised directly by you using your device's system settings (e.g., by clearing the App's data).
For users in California and other US jurisdictions with data protection laws (such as the CCPA/CPRA), the App allows you to use it without collecting personal information, and this Privacy Policy is provided for transparency.

The App displays a content warning on first launch, as some movie frames may contain strong or violent scenes not recommended for children. The App's actual suitability for younger users is determined by its official content rating on the Google Play Store (assigned via the IARC/PEGI rating system); please refer to that rating, and to your device's parental control settings, to decide whether the App is appropriate for a child in your care. We do not knowingly collect personal information from any user, regardless of age.
